The Original Intent Of This Blog

April 2006 - It seems vain to create a blog about me however, I realize that it is the most efficient way to provide accurate information about the status of my treatment and recovery so here I go .....

May 2009 - The cancer has returned, here I go again ...

December 2009 - I've finished chemo and am cancer free; I continue to receive Herceptin and the trial drug.

Day # 1

Hi everyone, this is April writing to give you an update. Well my Mom has made it through chemo #1 her appointment went well, they were all very nice to her answering her questions, getting her juice, crackers, etc. She said the port-a-cath was a dream, and that by the time it was over, she had forgot there was even a needle inside of her! I talked to her a couple of times throughout the day and she seemed to be doing well, aside from a headache and some swelling around her eyes. I talked to her again around 8:30pm, still doing well and even managed to eat a small dinner. Well, I'm sad to say that things pretty much went downhill after that, she did indeed have a very rough night! It started in around 9:45pm, she got sick but then was able to fall asleep after that, she was able to sleep until 2:00 am, and then she took a turn for the worse. She was pretty much up from 2:00am till 8:30am getting sick every 15 to 30 minutes. She said that my Dad was wonderful everytime, rubbing her back and wiping her face. She called the doctor's office this morning told them what happened, and they called in some new perscriptions to combat the nausea, so I hope that she will have a much better time with it now. When I talked to her around 10:30am she had not been sick since 8:30am and her headache was much better, so maybe the worst is over and she will be able to get some good sleep today and tonight! Well, I guess that's about it for now, thank you for all of your prayers, and please continue to do so. I'll update when I know more. -April
