The Original Intent Of This Blog

April 2006 - It seems vain to create a blog about me however, I realize that it is the most efficient way to provide accurate information about the status of my treatment and recovery so here I go .....

May 2009 - The cancer has returned, here I go again ...

December 2009 - I've finished chemo and am cancer free; I continue to receive Herceptin and the trial drug.

Before, During, and After

Well I did it. Yesterday I lost two large handfuls of hair in the shower and I continued to lose large amounts throughout the day. It was time for it to go. Last night after dinner Randy and April did the honors. Of course the first task was to give me a mohawk and then a misfit cut. I am thankful they made it fun.

So, onward I go!

Right on Jan! You look great and humor is the best medicine of all, don't we know...
And I know exactly what you mean by the "county" reference.
The kids are adorable, too :)
You continue to inspire me and many others in oh so many ways.

Hey Jan,now the worst is over! It will be interesting to watch it grow back, will it be the same color, or texture,we will see. Call me when you feel like talking later this week. Love you, Nancy

Such class. Such Style. Jan, you make that Chemo head look real good. Besides, it's the new in-style look right now. I loved the mohawk pic. "Absolutely radient my dear" (typed with a bit of a british accent in sort of a Sean Connery voice for effect). I can't believe I wasn't invited to the head shaving party. I could have had lots of fun with that electric razor. We could have trimmed your name in your hair or placed a hand on your head and trimmed all around it. Oh well, I guess a mohawk pic will have to suffice.

You're absolutely beautiful Jan, especially in the way Peter put it: "Do not let your adornment be merely outward--arranging the hair, wearing gold, or putting on fine apparel--rather let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the incorruptible beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is very precious in the sight of God." (1 Peter 3:3, 4)

With love from your brother in Christ Jesus,

Go sister go! I'm SO proud of you .. and if you ever want to see my hat/scarf collection just let me know! To be honest, I'm jealous! After being bald .. I am not liking these "bad hair" days .. OR ... have to blow dry and style my hair. Bald was easier!! It's really not bad wants the shock is over! You'll just make others jealous this hot summer!!!! Doing great!!! Donna Borntreger
